Betty Ann Black (Fritz)

Betty Ann Fritz, 80, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Monday, June 26, 2006, in Bella Vista, following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born Aug. 26, 1925, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Frank Black and Lila Black.

She received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Oklahoma City University. She was employed with Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. and Sohio Petroleum for 34 years combined. Her work involved computers and teaching their associated systems. She was instrumental in transitioning the company from mainframe to desk top computing. She lived in Anchorage, Alaska, from 1976 to 1985.

She and her husband, Martin Fritz, retired to Bella Vista. She was a member of the Bella Vista Church of Christ. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling, reading and working crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Fritz.

Survivors Include a son and daughter-in-law, Marc Houser and Tamara Houser of Nebo, NC; a daughter, Wanda Caldwell of Anchorage, AK; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild. A memorial service was held in Bella Vista. Burial was at the family plot in Oklahoma City, Okla.
