Randy Redmond

Randall "Randy" Frederick Redmond
November 1, 1959 - October 28, 2025

Randall Redmond, age 65, passed away after a short, but fierce fight with esophageal cancer leaving behind a legacy of honor, unwavering dedication to family, and a spirit of adventure that inspired all who knew him. Born in Anchorage, Alaska, Randy spent his early years surrounded by the natural beauty and rugged landscapes of his hometown. His years in Alaska instilled in him a love for the outdoors and a resilience that would define his character throughout life.

After graduating from West Anchorage High School in Anchorage, Randy pursued higher education in California, earning his bachelor’s degree in engineering from San Diego State University. With a solid foundation in engineering, Randy returned to Alaska, where he built a respected career as a licensed engineer and a project manager known for his exceptionally high ethical standards. His professional reputation was matched only by his personal commitment to always doing what was right.

In 2019, Randy embarked on a new chapter by moving to Texas. He cherished his roles as a devoted husband and father above all else, considering it his life’s mission to care for his family. He was married twice: first to Shannon Redmond (Maui, 1996), and later to Elena Redmond (Kauai, 2009). Randy’s expressive temperament made him passionate in all his pursuits, yet he was always quick to reconcile and ensure that integrity guided his actions.

Randy’s zest for life was evident in his many hobbies and interests. He found freedom and excitement in motion and outdoors. He loved flying, embracing the skies through paragliding, flying planes, and gliders. His passion for downhill skiing was so strong that all his children inherited it as well. He enjoyed riding bikes, snowmobiles, motorcycles, and sports cars. He relished the thrill of Alaskan fishing for salmon and halibut, cherished camping trips, enjoyed playing the guitar, and took pride in his ability to fix almost anything.

Randy is survived by his loving mother, Rosemary Redmond; his wife, Elena Redmond; his ex-wife, Shannon Redmond; his beloved children, Haily, Andrey, and Alysa Redmond; his sister, Fronna Redmond; his uncle, Alan Hanson; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Redmond, aunt, Carol Bibbs, and his uncle Jeorge Hanson.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Randy’s remarkable life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 8 at Schmidt Funeral Home, located at 1344 W Grand Parkway South, Katy, TX. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing ceremony from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM prior to the service.

Celebration of Life ceremony will be held in Alaska at a later date which will be announced separately.

Randy Redmond will be remembered as a man of honor and integrity, a loving family man, and an adventurer whose legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Randy did a couple of turns with us.  Before I worked with him, he was in the planning group.  Then from about 1994 to the early 2000s, he was a Project Engineer for Veco and exclusively worked Alyeska projects.  He was great to work with, even in cases where we didn't quite see things the same way, and always had the end goal of delivery in mind, and he kept a good sense of humor about it in the process. Although I haven't seen Randy for close to 25 years, I will always remember him as a good guy and a real pro with whom I would work again in a second.
