John S. Godek, 53, of Andover, died Monday, Nov. 26 at Lawrence General Hospital.
Mr. Godek was a detailer for Frito-Lay Co.
A lifelong Andover resident, he graduated from Andover High School.
Mr. Godek served in the Army in Vietnam. He received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, several Purple Hearts, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry and several other ribbons and medals.
He was a member of the Air Cavalry Troop, Chapter of the Black Horse Association, the 11th Armored Cavalry and Veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia.
He enjoyed gardening and bowling but family members said his greatest pleasures came from his children and family.
He attended St. Michael's Church in North Andover.
Members of his family include his wife of 20 years, Alison M. (Dural) Godek; daughters, Elisabeth and Erica Godek; parents, Stanley and Edna (Wavszbiewick) Godek; sister, Nancy Godek, all of Andover; brother, Robert Gaffney of New Jersey; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Black Horse Association Inc., care of the Scholarship Fund, Box 10423, Fort Irwin, CA 92310.
Calling hours were scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Dewhirst & Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third St., North Andover.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
