
James G. Monroe, 65
BEVERLY: James G. Monroe, 65, of Beverly, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Jim was born October 19, 1949 in Boston the son of Robert E. Monroe and the late Elizabeth G. Monroe of Rockport.
Jim graduated from Andover High School and Hobart College where he played lacrosse. Following graduation, he worked as a journalist for the Boston Globe and the Beverly Times. Later, he worked in the family business at the Derby Square Book Store in Salem and Books on the Wharf where he was manager. He was an avid supporter of Boston's professional sport teams.
Jim is survived by his father, Robert E. Monroe of Rockport; two brothers, Frank Monroe of Rockport and Robert E. Monroe Jr. and his wife, Diane of Groveland. He is also survived by his longterm partner and friend, Sheila Garafalo.
