Suddenly, on August 2, 1970, In Charles Town, W. Va., RONALD (Ronnie) B. MORELLI of 937 N. Danville St., Arlington, Va., beloved son of Joseph and Madeline K. Morelli; brother of Lorilee Morelli of home address; grandson of Mrs. Anna Zubal of Carmichaels, Pa., Mrs. Mary DiRito and Samuel Morelli, both of Philadelphia, Pa.
Friends may call at the Arlington Funeral Home, 3901 N. Fairfax Dr., Arlington, Va., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, where services will be held on Wednesday, August 5, at 10 a.m. Interment Culpeper National Cemetery.
Services were to be held today for Ronald (Ronnie) B. Morelli, of 937 N. Danville St., Arlington. Mr. Morelli drowned Sunday afternoon in the Shenandoah River. He was 18.
The June graduate of Washington-Lee High School, Arlington was wading with a friend south of Charles Town, W.Va., when the friend slipped into the fast-moving river. Mr. Morelli dived in to help. Not a strong swimmer, Mr. Morelli sank before his father could reach him. The friend survived.
Mr. Morelli was working this summer with children at the Arlington Recreation Center. He planned to study police science at Northern Virginia Community College this fall. He was born in Washington.
A neighbor recalled that he was generous in offering help with carpentry and electrical work.
Survivors are his parents, Joseph and Madeline K.; a sister, Lorilee, of the home, and his grandparents, Mrs. Anna Zubal, of Carmichaels, Pa., and Mrs. Mary DiRito and Samuel Morelli, both of Philadelphia.
Interment was to be in Culpeper National Cemetery.
