SE Slaying Victim Identified as Va. Man
District police have identified a 40-year-old man who was fatally shot Wednesday in the Barry Farms neighborhood of Southeast Washington.
Richard Charles Tate, of the 500 block of North Pollard Street in Arlington, was found shot in the 1100 block of Eaton Road, SE, next to a van that had crashed into several parked cars.
Detectives said they believe Tate, who died at D.C. General Hospital shortly after the 5:15 p.m. shooting, was driving the van when he was fired upon. Police said they had no suspects and know of no motive for the killing.
Four people have been slain in the last two months at Barry Farms, a neighborhood of small brick apartment buildings south of Suitland Parkway and west of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
At least two of the first three slayings are connected, a police source said, but detectives have not determined whether Tate's slaying is linked to any of the others.
