Jane N. Willis, 69, passed away June 22, 2022, at INOVA Hospital Lansdowne in Leesburg, Virginia, after a short illness. She was born September 25, 1952 in Arlington, Virginia. She graduated in 1970 from Washington-Lee High School, attended two years at George Mason, before moving on to the University of Virginia and graduating with a B.S. in Environmental Science in 1974, the first graduating class of women in University of Virginia history.

After graduating, she worked for a home builder in Northern Virginia, an insurance company in Alexandria, and several banks before joining Eaglebank of Bethesda, Maryland in 2000 where at the time of her death she was a Vice President/Credit Analyst.

Jane is survived by her husband, Charles S. Willis, a daughter, Emily W. Nielson, her husband, Evan P. Nielson, and a granddaughter, Elowyn J. Nielson. She also leaves behind her brother, Michael J. Nardella of Falls Church, Virginia and his wife Myriam Nardella.

Jane loved to travel, having travelled to Europe (twice), Mexico, and throughout the United States. She was an avid reader, played soccer into her mid-thirties, loved music, and attending concerts with friends and family. She had a great sense of humor, was extremely intelligent, and always curious when things didn’t seem to make sense. She loved talking to individuals from previous generations as to how they lived and what that individual’s life was like during that period in time. The Civil War was one era she was particularly interested in.

A memorial service will be held at the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd. NE. Leesburg, Virginia 20176, on Friday July 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM.

After the service a gathering to celebrate her life will be held at the Hamilton Station Pizza and Gastro Pub, 17416 Hamilton Station Rd. Hamilton, Virginia 20158 from 12:30 to 2:30.

In lieu of flowers we ask that individuals make a donation in Jane’s name to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
