First Job Posted Monday, January 26, 2009 02:46 PM Ok gang, let's hear it. What was your first place of employment? Mine was Long John Silver's at Midtown. The crew included myself, Nada Gallaher, Cindy Moore, Mark Hall, Mike Hardeman, Mark Damron,Johnny Greene, were there others from our class? We all smelled like old fish grease but we had a blast. |

RE: First Job Posted Monday, January 26, 2009 04:29 PM I was pretty lucky in the job department...I worked at Third National Bank all through high school and when I was home from college. Didn't know it at the time and swore it wouldn't happen, but guess where I worked after college? You guessed it, a bank. All that training really came in handy! Kelley |

RE: First Job Posted Tuesday, January 27, 2009 02:55 PM My first job was as a lifeguard at Southside Pool. Wow, those summers at Southside and Dirk's campground were so much fun. I hadn't thought about that in years. |

RE: First Job Posted Tuesday, January 27, 2009 02:58 PM My first job was at Breezeland Swim Club. I made 1.90 hr. I would have 15 min off the chair and go and sleep in the ladies locker room. John Frisbee would not let us play music like they did at Southside Pool. We could only play one album, Seals and Croft. I remember Summer Breeze. My first day I wore a two piece and the ladies complained to Mr Frisbee after that we had one piece blue suits. He would have died if he knew what went on after hours. |

RE: First Job Posted Wednesday, January 28, 2009 09:11 AM Kelley - I seem to remember Paul Weinfurtner gave Mrs. Wisenberger fits too. Didn't he hit her and knock her glasses off or something like that? He was a rebel before his time. |

Did you teach swimming lessons in the mornings? I froze my butt off teaching the kids not to end up on the bottom of the pool. |

Also, didn't Mrs. Reeves ?(4th grade social studies teacher) fall in the hall near the bathrooms and her wig fall off...one of the boys put it on...was that Paul too, or one of the others? Kelley |

Really interesting, but then most of the happenings at good ole Southside were interesting. Some of the people I remember:
Ken Cobb Reed Downs Ed Marcum Melanie Sennett (honorary classmate, Larry's wife) several from class of '80
|

RE: First Job Posted Thursday, February 19, 2009 02:55 PM I had a built in job at my parents business. It was every Saturday if I wasn't gone to a band contest. Sometimes after school and every summer. It taught me a lot and put cash in the bank account so when I turned 16 I bought my first car, Donna Thompson |

RE: First Job Posted Wednesday, February 25, 2009 02:52 PM Senior year started working at the Ashland Foodland on Central with Richard Baker & Terry Stewart. The building there now houses Medical Offices. Nothing quite as "character building" as carrying out groceries, LOL. Suffered through many Sunday morning hangovers working there. |

RE: First Job Posted Wednesday, February 25, 2009 09:07 PM My first job was May's Donuts! Worked there with Carol Martin. We made $1.50/hour. I think I started there during the summer between 9th & 10th grade. Lied about my age & told them I had already turned 15....I was still 5 or so months away from 15....!! Sheila |

RE: First Job Posted Monday, March 16, 2009 03:56 PM I believe I had the best part time job. I was the evening custodian at Oakview. I could go to work anytime that evening. No weekends. Leave when I got my work done. When your alone, big buildings do make a lot of sound. However, I had my own keys to the school and had use of the gym. I remember a bunch of us playing basketball on the weekends. I still have the photos of dunking a basketball and the rim being at my chest. What the photo don't show is the school trampoline under the the rim. |
