Medical Field

I find it quite interesting how many of us ended up directly or indirectly working in the medical & hospital field. Must be a lot of different experiences to share. I have worked as an RN since 93' and as a Nurse Practitioner with Dr. Paulus @ KDMC since 2003. Mostly critical care, starting in ICU & a few years as a flight nurse with HealthNet. Ran Holzer Medical Center's ER for a few months (feel for you Lisa Hall)and still work PRN RN shifts @ OLBH. Adrenalin is a hard habit to break. Where else can you fight a beligerant drunk & save a life all in a 12 hour shift? Pizza anyone, as you call the code. Just a thought.

I too noticed how many people listed in their profiles they worked in the medical field. I've seen so much working at UKMC and the present hospital I work. It really makes you appreciate being healthy and makes you think before you complain about your little problems that don't really amount to much.
The down side of working in the medical field is my entire family thinks I can diagnosis and cure them of their ailments.lol

When I was in High School my Dad wanted to know what I was going to do for the rest of my life. He said if you work in the medical profession you will always have a job. My sister went into nursing and I went into Radiology. I have lived in three different states and have never wanted for a job. In this day and time I thank my father for leading me down that path.

Have to respond to this because I have been a nurse for 23 years and it was my chosen profession from the age of 5. It has been one of the best choices I have ever made.
I work in a Level II trauma center that serves all of western North Carolina. I work in the step-down trauma unit. Everyone is coming off the heavy ICU drugs (and most are just realizing that they have screwed up yet again). It can be pretty wild. We like to call it Drama Care.

How about something by Todd Rundgren?
