How about a Lexington Alumni Association?
Posted Thursday, July 30, 2009 07:38 AM

Hey, Through this last weekend I heard so many times that everyone lived in Lexington. So since so many of us live in Lexington and the surrounding communities I thought maybe we could form a Blazer-Lexington Alumni Association.
Although it's only a 2 hour drive to our beloved Ashland so many of can't always get home. Elaine Saunders said all weekend that she wants people to get together here and hang out.
We could invite other classes to join and have planned activities all year. Hey if its good enough for UK its certainly good enough for Blazer grads.
Anyone else interested??

Even though I live in Ashland I would consider coming to some of these in Lexington. Keep us all posted and I think it is a great idea not only in Lexington but maybe other locations.

Donna I agree completely. I am only an hour or so away and have relatives in Lexington. I would love a reason to come there and see good friends. After all, Keeneland is open two months out of the year and there are always UK events. Also classmate Richard Curnutte still bartends at the Blue Moon in Lexington, I am sure he would reserve us some tables for a get together.

Amazingly I feel like I never really finished a conversation with anyone at the reunion. So keep me posted, I am in!!!!!!!!

Heck, I live in Indiana, about two and and a half hours away and would be more than willing to make that drive! THAT is a great idea! I don't remember hearing anyone say one negative word about the reunion and although there was a great deal of effort that was put into bringing it all together, and what a great job you guys did, it was ultimately the people there that made it such a tremendous success. You have my vote! Count me in!

I think it would be great to continue hanging out. Whether its in Lex or here at home, I'm in. I love lex and have seversl friends and relatives there. I just hope that when we slip back into our buay lives that this doesn't fall to the wayside. Everyday is a gift and we lost several friends between the 25th and 30th that I wish I had one more day with. Lets really try to keep in touch, we have a really cool class thats much closer and connected than any other that I know of. I love all you guys, Carol

Okay I am on vacation this nexk week 8/10. I will be scouting out a place that would let us hang out and talk. Probably somewhere that serves alcohol and food. If you are interrested in coming out please try to drop me an e-mail so I will know how big of an area we'll need. I'm thinking late Sept--early Oct for the first meeting. If any one has any sugestions for the first meeting speak up!!

Hey Donna,
How are you? The last time I saw you, you were working at St. Joe East. I didn't make it to the reunion but I would love to get together with everyone in Lexington. Let me know of any plans. Hope all is well with you.

Okay we figured that we could do a Friday Oct 23 6pm for the first meeting. Keeneland runs Oct 9-31 and UK has a game Oct 24 with Louisiana-Monroe. So you could go to Keeneland and then to dinner with us and still make the game if you want.
Dorothy Robinson and I are trying to find a restaurant to accomadate us. Probably Cheddars on Tates Creek Road. If anyone has any ideas please let us know. It's hard not knowing how many to expect.

Donna,
That weekend sounds great. I have 2 suggestions. It depends on the number but we could have the get together at my house or I talked to the manager at Cheddars on Tates Creek and we could get there early to reserve tables in the backroom which is somewhat enclosed. I also want to mention that Greg and I have a great tailgating spot and we'd be happy to have everyone join us for the UK game on Saturday. It's going to be a great seasonSmile

Donna,

Sounds great! There were so many of us it is hard to have a decent conversation and really find out about each others lives... We are a great class and I think it will be awesome to further keep in touch!!
Are you sure about the Keeneland dates? I was thinking they are starting much later this year...?? Let me know what I can do to help!

Friday Oct 23rd:

Keeneland gates open 11am. First race is at 1:05pm. We will meet at the benches down by the track.

Meet at Cheddars Tates Creek Road 6pm. Our tables will be to the left in the Atrium. The manager says we can stay and talk as long as we want. Please tip our servers.

The Moon afterwards. Richard Curnutte works there and is having tables reserved for us.

Saturday Oct 24th:

UK vs Louisiana-Monroe game time 7pm.
Tailgating: Dorothy Robinson parks in the Senior citzens lot next to Nicholasville Road. Just stop by before the game.

Those not going to the UK game might enjoy seeing Ashland play Woodford Co in Versailles at 6pm.

Hope we have a good turnout. Grads from other classes welcome and some have been invited. Please feel free to invite anyone who might be interrested.

Had a great time today at Keeneland and Dinner in Lexington.
If you missed this event we will have another in the Spring.
Thanks for everyone that came out. We had about 14 at Keeneland with us and 30 at Cheddars.
