Phillip Bryan Slone, 55, passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, in the Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
Phillip died as a result of an automobile accident that occurred in June of this year. He courageously fought a hard battle at the Frazier Rehabilitation Center in Louisville.
Phillip was born Aug. 3, 1961, in Ashland, a son of Dorothy "Dotty" Diamond Slone of Ashland and the late Wade E. Slone. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Paul Andrew Slone.

Phillip was a lifelong Ashland resident. He was a 1979 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High. Phillip worked at the former Heck's Department Store in Russell before entering a career in law enforcement. He was sworn in with the Catlettsburg Police Department and graduated from the police academy in Richmond. Phillip spent two years with Catlettsburg and then was sworn in as a Boyd County Deputy Sheriff working for sheriff Troy Dixon. Phillip also worked under the leadership of Sheriff Phillip Sturgill, Sheriff Terry Keelin and retired under Sheriff Bobby Jack Woods. He was a member of the Ashland Fraternal Order of Police in Ashland.

After retirement, Phillip worked as a delivery associate for Summit RV in Ashland. Phillip loved fishing with his buddies in the Louisa Bass Club and spending time with his family.
In addition to his mother, Phillip is survived by his loving wife, Libby Felty Slone of Ashland; daughters Samantha Slone of Ashland, Dallas Franklin and husband Cody of Ashland, Emma Slone of Ashland and Katelyn Virgin of Ashland; a brother, David Allen Slone and his wife, Jamie, of Ashland; a sister, Rebecca Lynn "Becky" Slone of Pickerington, Ohio; his granddaughters he adored, Harper Franklin and Natalie Childers; and a host of extended family and friends.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the medical staff at Frazier Rehabilitation for the excellent care provided to Phillip, to the first responders that safely escorted him home and to his many friends for their love and support during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Pastor Frank Hulett. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and after noon Saturday at the funeral home.
