Cathy Sue Brown Rice, 55, of Grayson, passed away Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at her home in Lexington.

She was born May 5, 1961, in Covington, the daughter of Harold R. Brown and the late Luthea Mae Smith Brown.

In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul M. Rice.
Cathy worked for 34 years for the Printing Department at Ashland Inc., in Russell. She will be greatly missed by her friends there. Cathy was an avid quilter who brought joy to many with her beautiful craft. She loved making quilts for patients under hospice care. She was a devoted member of Gregoryville Christian Church in Grayson and was involved in multiple community outreach ministries with the church. Cathy was a wonderful mother to her two children and a mother figure to countless others who will miss her warm loving spirit and witty advice greatly.

She is survived by her father, Harold R. Brown and wife Carolyn Brown of Frisco, Texas; two children, Elizabeth (Brian) Fields of St. Peters, Mo., and Mary (Matthew) Pugh of Lexington; a brother, Rick (Rhonda) Brown of Galveston, Texas; beloved friends, Donna Jones of Ashland, Mark and Sandra Deakins of Lexington, Raymond and Beverly Stapleton of Grayson and Danny and Becky Stamper of Olive Hill; and her devoted beagle, Maggie.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at Gregoryville Christian Church in Grayson by Jason McGlone.
