ASHLAND — Paul Richard “Rick” Hughes, 51, of Ashland, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 11, 1962, to the late Paul G. and Carolyn Donta Hughes.  

He was owner and operator of Hughes 29th Street BP, a 1980 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School and attended Pollard Baptist Church.

He is survived by sons Jonathan Wesley Hughes and wife Kayla of Ashland and Andrew Bailey Hughes of Russell; brothers Jack D. Dempsey and wife Diana of Bristol, Tenn., and Mark E. Dempsey and wife Paula of Charleston, W.Va.; a sister, Teresa Carolyn Dempsey of Lexington; and grandchildren Bryden Wesley Hughes and Kennedi Paige Hughes.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Tom Swartzwelder. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
