For fifty-eight years our world was blessed by the life of Hobart Weaver III. Whether referred to as Mr. Weaver, Hobart, Hobie, or Dad, those who knew him were truly in the presence of a man with an infinite capacity to love. It was a love learned from the Father who received Hobie home Thursday, September 9, 2021. Though his earthly journey came to completion with little warning, memories of our time together remain.
Hobie was born October 28, 1962, in Ashland, Kentucky, the son of the late Hobart Weaver II and Helen Beckwith Weaver.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Barnhill Weaver; daughter, Haleigh Weaver; sisters, Becky Charles (Mike) and Jeri Straughn (Rex); several nieces, nephews and loyal friends.
Hobie's passions consisted of fishing and hunting in which he found peace of mind. His annual trip back home to Kentucky and Ohio to deer hunt and see hometown friends was always the highlight of his year. There was no joy to him like bringing home a huge buck.
Hobie deeply considered the people that he worked with as his family away from home. He worked at General Electric in the aviation department for over 20 years and left an impact on numerous people there.
Hobie was a great man, who lived his life by walking by his unwavering faith in the Lord and set out to continuously change lives for the better. He made friends everywhere he went, and always made sure to put God and his family first. He treated everyone with kindness and never judged a soul. Any stranger was a friend to Hobie. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family.
Graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 14, at 3:00 p.m. at Riley’s Creek Memorial Cemetery, 2111 Clarks Landing Loop Road, Rocky Point with Pastor Wes Hunter conducting the service.
Visitation with the family will follow immediately after the service in the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and in honor/memory of Hobie, please consider a memorial gift to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Plaza, Memphis, TN 38105.
