A memorial mass will be held today for Garry B. Fritz of Eugene, who died June 9 of cardiac arrest. He was 54.

He was born June 18, 1949 in Medford to Ordway and Elvada Fritz. He married Terri Warpinski Dec. 21, 2001, in Green Bay, Wis.

He was a graduate of Douglas High School in Winston and earned a bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Oregon in 1973. He was architect for facilities at the university at the time of his death, and was responsible for the planning, coordination and construction of many notable buildings on campus.

He was a member of the American Institute of Architects and the board of directors of the Chamber Music Society. His many hobbies included sailing, clockmaking and photography. Some of his photographs are on display in the "Art in the Family" exhibit at the Jacobs Gallery in the Hult Center for the Performing Arts.

He is survived by his wife; his mother, Elvada Fritz of Roseburg, and a son, Eric Fritz of Seattle. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Angela Leah Fritz.
