Jon....what a great guy! Great smile! We had alot in commom both being from dairy farms. Hard work.
I think it was sophmore year, with dairy prices very low, the NFO (National Farm Org) encouraged dairymen to dump their milk in an attempt to to raise prices. I can remember Jon and other FFA students buying extra cartons of milk at lunch and ceremoniously dumping them outside in protest and support of the cause. Radical eh? Anyone else remember this?
Jon was in my gym class the day Mr Plank caught me hanging on the basketball rim. I'd jumped and pulled myself up using the net. Mr Plank ordered me to run !00 laps. We weren't in any other classes together but whenever I'd see him Jon would greet me with "Earl...take a lap". Crazy the rememberences that come to you! Jon was a happy, fun and kind fellow farmer!
