Barbara VAN Hise (Collins)

Barbara Van Hise Collins, 73, of East Point, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 after a short illness. Born in Greenville, SC Barbara was raised by her beloved mother, the late Mrs. Thelma Gray Van Hise in Atlanta, Georgia. Barbara is also predeceased by her sister Lynne Van Hise Linebaugh, brother-in-law James Linebaugh, and nephew William Linebaugh. She is survived by her great niece Kali Hardesty and great nephew Justin Linebaugh, three great-great nephews, as well as many other special friends who she thought of as family. Barbara is a graduate of Henry Grady High School in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended Georgia State University and the University of Maryland. Barbara worked in the banking industry for more than 35 years beginning at C&S National Bank in Atlanta, now Bank of America, in various positions. She retired as a Vice President in the Finance Division. Barbara was a member of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. She was actively involved in local civic and political activities in East Point, Georgia, including runs for Mayor and City Council. She served on various local municipal Boards, including Chair of the East Point Housing Authority for 8 years. She served on the Alcohol Review Board, Main Street Board, Civil Service Board, and the East Point Business and Industrial Development Authority. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at an undetermined date and time to be decided. Donations in lieu of flowers should be made in her honor to Lost-n-Found Youth, Inc.
