School Story:
I was in Grady HS for only my senior year. I came from Daniel C. O'keefe, which was also in the Atlanta/ Fulton County school system. I made the move because the previous summer, I was a member of the Actor's and Writer's Workshop and several of the people I'd made friends with were attending Grady.
The A&WS was the brainchild of Walter Roberts, the father of Eric and Julia Roberts (as well as Kyra Sedgewick).
That summer, we performed many different plays in various economically depressed neighborhoods around the county off the back of a flatbed trailer. The driver of the semi who got us to and from these neighborhoods was selected to play the part of Petrucio in Taming of the Shrew; due to his thick accent, Mr. Roberts turned the play into a Western.
In was a very interesting experiment, to say the least.
