PAUL JOSEPH ALTERMAN Paul Joseph Alterman, age 59, of Atlanta, died November 4, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Pam Alterman; children, Jonathan Alterman and Erin Colberg, Andrew Louis Alteman, Katie and Sammy Rosenberg, Michael Alterman, and Amy Alterman; sister, Tudy Alterman; brother, Danny Alterman; grandchildren, Masao Alterman and Max Rosenberg; mother and father-in-law, Mable and Roy Meeks; sister-in-law, Kalista and David Morton; brother-in-law, Hal and Jo Meeks; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Chippie Alterman.Paul was an active and influential member in the Jewish community. He was a founding member of Temple Beth Tikvah. He sat on the board of the Georgia and National Prader-Willi Syndrome Association. Through the Sam P. Alterman Family Foundation and the Chippie Alterman Charitable Trust, he helped to establish the AMIT program for children with Developmental Disabilities, and built the Chippie Alterman Ampitheater at Camp Barney Medintz. He also established the Alterman Jets Transportation System which aided in the transportation needs of the disabled community. Paul was a true humanitarian and was very generous to Temple Beth Tikvah, The Greenfield Hebrew Academy, Camps Coleman and Ramah, JNF, the Marcus Jewish Community Center, Jewish Family and Career Services, and numerous charitable organizations. Funeral services will be held today, November 5 at 2:30 PM at Temple Beth Tikvah (9955 Coleman Rd, Roswell) with Rabbi Fred Greene, Rabbi Donald Tam, and Cantor Nancy Kassel officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association (5700 Midnight Pass Road Suite 6 Sarasota, Fl 34242), AMIT (1776 Old Spring House Lane Suite 104 Atlanta, Ga 30338) or the Brain Tumor Foundation for Children (6065 Roswell Road Suite 505 Atlanta, Ga 30328) Arrangements by Dressler's Jewish Funeral Care, Atlanta, 770-451-4999.
