Aug 2nd Update on Jean

Jean just sat at the kitchen table and ate for the first time since August 2012.  We went to see Dr. Hack today and she changed Jean to a soft diet. A diet that includes chicken, fish, ground beef, and tender steak.  Wow!!! She has come so far.  Jean is still very weak and can only eat small amounts, but she is getting stronger every day.  It is now just a matter of gaining weight and strength.  She even asked Dr. Haack when she can drive again.  God has been so good. Please continue to pray for her and that her appetite will increase so se can gain some weight and have the feeing tube removed.  Thank you for your support.

A special thanks to Phil Morgan for the Reunion Medallion Memento. Throughout the years it will serve as a reminder of our 50th Reunion event and what fantastic folks we have in the class of 62.

What a WONDERFUL job the planning committee did - I can't tell you how your hard work paid off for all of us. You did a beautiful job!!
What a memorable way to renew old friendships. Like Charlene, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that moment in time, one more time. Love to you all.... Carol McDonald McManus

Just figured out how to work this "Message Center" thingy!! (Guess I'm not very "Tech" savvy!)
So....now that I know how to send a message, I'd like to take this moment to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to the entire Southwest Class of 1962 Reunion Committee for a wonderful & memorable weekend, and an irreplaceable opportunity!
Thanks also to the class of '62 for allowing me to share this special event with you. I attended SW for my 8th & 9th grade years only, as Therrell & Headland had been built by that time and my SW days were numbered, via one newly built high school or another. Therrell it was, and good memories were made there as well, and although I did ultimately complete my studies, I did not graduate with my classmates. I was engaged, with stars in my eyes, giddy and not paying attention to my school responsibilities. I still needed to complete one semester of credits, making my finish date January 1963, so I never attended graduation ceremonies, and thereby have not been formally considered a member of Therrell's class of '62. No hard feelings w/Therrell at all, just pleased to have been with all of you this past weekend!! Extra special Thanks to Loretta Todd Roberts and Philip Morgan who pummeled me into submission, and I'm glad they did!!! And again to Philip for the extra special touches and mementos. And to Cathy Kramer Leake, (as beautiful as ever!) for getting me involved in the first place. And Olin Williams for making me feel welcome and included. Again, to each and every one of you, Thanks a Million!! [OH!and to Marcus Baeszler for remaining gorgeous all these years : ) ]
Hope to stay in touch with "allayall"! xoxo, Judi Oldstein Resnick

A continuing theme that I heard during the reunion weekend was that we had a great education, we were brought up in an era of respect for others, but that we lost our neighborhood. The neighborhood is still there, but the people are not. We are much like pastors describe a church. We are not defined by a building or area, we are defined by the people. Southwest High School will always be at the corner of Lynhurst and Sewell Road, no matter other people call it!

Jim Ratzman

Many thanks for the message. I am sorry that I have been so elusive. I spend a lot of time in Italy with half of my family there. The rest of the time I am in London with my wife Lesley and the other half of my family. I have two children and four grandchildren.
I remember seeing one announcement of the reunion some time ago. I don't know why I missed the others, though it may have been because of travel. I have checked out the websight and it looks as if it will be an amazing event. I was sorry to have missed the last one and this holds even more for the 50th. There are many people I would love to see again. Unfortunately because of professional and personal commitments, there is no way that I can make it.
I am sure that everyone will have a fine time, full of memories of a time when we were young and looking through the window of the life that was to come. I sincerely hope that what was on the other side turned out well for you all and I thank those sincerely who were my friends and supportive classmates during our time together at Southwest. You will know who you are.
If anyone wants to find out what I have been up to, do check out my website: lendoyal.com. It is a little out of date but then so am I. I can be contacted by email on:l.doyal@qmul.ac.uk Do get in touch.
Best of luck and thanks to you and the organising team for your time and effort.
Warm regards to the Class of 62.
Len Doyal

Thank you for the updates on Jean. We love each new bit of Good News and hope it keeps on getting better and better for her. xoxo, Judi Oldstein Resnick
