Atmore Mayfest.

Do yall remember the first one?  It was the best that I attended.  Brook, my wife, asked my why do I dance so well and where did I learn.  This is a story that I love to tell.  The first Mayfest ended with a Dance at the Armory.  It was the normal scene at a 'dance.'  Band was playing and no one was dancing.  Boys all grouped up by themselves.  Girls want to dance but no one asking.  These girls wanted to dance so bad.  So bad that all I had to do was ask.  I am working hard to get up my nerve to ask someone to dance.  The 'BamaLamaBoogie Band' is playing some KC and the Sunshine band (I think?).  It was an Eagle's song that I danced my first dance to..    With a slight stutter, I asked Becky Shehan to dance with me.  To my surprise, she said yes.  We danced a couple of songs.  After that, I danced with just about every girl there.  Even Mrs. Womack that owned the service station across from the Ponderosa.  There are only a few reasons that a man will dance, the two reasons that I aspire to are: 1. Whew! She's mighty purdy.  2. Whew, I'm mighty drunk. (kinda helps make her more purdy)

I doubt that this year's Mayfest will measure up like that.  30 plus years ago, dang, I am still in denial. I ain't old yet!!!
