DR. TORY HERRING Dr. Tory Herring, of Birmingham, AL, passed away on October 20, 2015. Dr. Herring was a decorated Vietnam Veteran with the 1st squadron, 9th calvary, 1st air Calvary Division in the US Army; a member of Church of The Highlands, the Porsche Club of America and loved his days of coaching youth baseball. Beloved husband, father, brother and friend, Dr. Herring is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cindy Herring; son Shane (Lindsey) Herring; sisters, Helen (Ellis) Copeland, Hala (Christopher) Carlton and Hilda (Keith) Harding; mother-in-law, Hannah Case Collins; brothers-in-law, Clay (Mary) Collins and Don Collins Jr; sisters-in-law, Patricia Herring and Casey (Craig) Stephens and a host of nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. Tory is preceded in death by his daughter, Lamar Herring; brother, Tim Herring; parents, Dr. Hal and Virginia Herring; father-in-law, Donald L. Collins. A celebration of Dr. Herring's life will be on Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Chapel located on the Church of the Highlands, Grants Mill Campus starting at 1pm. The family will receive friends and family from noon until 1pm. In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Alabama or Church of the Highlands.
