I remember the story of the Marine helicopter that was shot down at the end of the Vietnam war. Daniel, along with other Marine Corps personnel tragically lost their lives. That happened less than a year after we graduated from high school. Decades later while visiting the Washington DC area on vacation, I found the Vietnam Memorial wall, and I found DANIEL A BENEDETT name. I am moved by his passing to this day and can’t imagine what his family endured until his remans where identified and brought to his final resting place.
I remember this tragic event also. I was in the Tonkin Gulf during graduation time, never in real threat. But realized after hearing obout Daniel, and knowing someone who lost their life in defence of freedom & democracy, we were all in potential peril. Thank you Daniel you gave your all!
