Life after SHHS... College in Alberta, Canada for a year, then to CSU to study Forestry. Fought the wildfires in Yellowstone in '88 (had my photo in USA Today). Studied abroad in Germany. Earned a B.S. in Conservation Education and and became a Licensed Science Teacher. Got married and have two great girls. Taught school for 7 years... burned out--not a good fit for me.
I bought an 1850's vintage Inn with a Big Band Era Dance Hall attached. I may re-open the Ballroom and Inn (B&B) someday, but for now, the Inn is our home and the Dance Hall is my woodworking shop.
Writing and Photography are becoming tools in my business too. I am now a regular contributor for Fine Homebuilding Magazine. I wrote a Master Carpenter article for the July '08 FHB titled "Reproducing Historic Architectural Details" based on some restoration work I did for an 1888 Victorian train station.
The Jan '09 Fine Homebuilding (on a news stand near you) has a fun idea of mine in the "Tips and Techniques" column--a design for a roll-up sidewalk, using recycled materials.
I mostly just goofed off in wood shop and English classes in school... my teachers would never believe that I am now a professional woodworker and lately, an author... crazy.
I still have good memories of the Band and Cross Country team.
