Shawn Patrick Johnson, age 54, died February 2nd, 2026 at his home of natural causes.

Shawn was born May 20th, 1971 in Paynesville, MN to Chester and Patricia Johnson. He moved with his family to Willmar, MN in 1980 until 1984 then moved to Austin, MN. He graduated in 1989 from Austin High School. For a short time he lived in LaCrosse, WI, but made his way back to Austin.

Shawn worked in construction while living in LaCrosse. Spent some time roaming the midwest with the carnival. He had various odd jobs and was working at Hormel at the time of his death.

Shawn was a huge Green Bay Packer fan and wasn't afraid to show it. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Shawn loved to tell stories, his stories could be very elaborate. He loved to cook and grill. His Harley was his prize possession.

He is preceded in death by his mother Patricia Stern, step-father Steven Stern. Father Chester Johnson. Both maternal and paternal grandparents. Uncle John Nelson, Aunt Ruthie Johnson, Aunt Diane Kohanek.

Survived by his brother James Johnson (Rose Mary Usher) of Columbus, GA. Sister Stephany (Keith) Oldenkamp of Austin, MN. 3 nephews Nicholas, Garret, and Charles Oldenkamp all in Austin, MN. Uncle James (Barbara) Nelson Las Vegas, NV. Many cousins and special friends Virgil and Michele Legried and their pups, Tim Davis, Tony Erickson, and many more.

A huge thank you to the people who were concerned about him and did a wellness check on him. You will forever be in our hearts.

There will be a gathering at East Side Lake March 7, 2026 at 2:15 pm with a celebration of life potluck at Bobbee Jo's in Austin, MN at 3pm on March 7, 2026 as this is what Shawn would have wanted.

In lieu of flowers, donations to help cover funeral expenses may be made to his sister Stephany Oldenkamp or to any wildlife organization in Shawn's name.
