Alida Phillips (Darlington)

Alida Darlington, 58, of Hutto passed away with her family by her side after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Alida’s family will hold a private celebration of her life and scattering of her ashes on their property. Friends and family will be notified of the date. Alida was born on July 29, 1953 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Allen and Patricia Phillips. Alida and her family moved to Texas when she was in high school where she graduated from McCallum High School in Austin. At a young age Alida developed a love and passion for horses. She began equine training over 30 years ago, starting her own business in the Houston area before moving to Georgetown. In 1988, Alida married Samuel “Dammit Sam” Darlington on April 1st. Alida started “Emerald Meadows Equine Training” and Sam started “Emerald Meadows Construction” at their home in Hutto, TX in 1989. Alida trained in Dressage and her passion for her horses came through in her daily work. Alida is preceded in death by her father, Allen Phillips. Alida leaves behind her loving husband, Sam Darlington; her children, Jeff Darlington, Nina Olson and her husband Mike, Alisa Green, Christian Cook and his wife Samantha, and Michael Cook; her mother, Patricia Phillips and her husband Warren Wentink; her siblings, Tita Erhard, Donna Phillips and her husband Neil Kramer; her grandchildren, Cohen Olson, Madison Green and Hayden Olson; her niece Shannon Erhard and nephews, Allen Kramer and Noah Kramer; along with a host of other loving family members and friends. In lieu of flowers Alida requested that donations be made to the "Alida Darlington Memorial Garden Fund" set up at the Wells Fargo Bank.
