In Memory

Gary Scheer

Gary Scheer, Class of 1971 passed away.

Gary Wayne Scheer, born May 6, 1953 in Austin, Texas, passed away at the age of 59 on September 22, 2012 in Jarrell, Texas.
Gary is survived by a large, loving family and numerous friends whom he liked to refer to simply as "extended family". To list each one is impossible as all who truly knew him know that, besides his never-ending kind and gentle heart, he was a most humble man.
He loved plumbing, classic cars, fishing and mankind. He strongly believed that people deserved their "flowers" while they were still alive and he was most generous in making sure he did his best to show that. It was his way - to give all he had to make others happy. He said the feel of a finely made German tool, a quality fishing pole in his hands, or the rev of a powerful engine under foot was a great feeling, but being surrounded by a loving family were the happiest moments a man could ever ask for.
He was a man of strong faith that not only carried him through the hard times in life but also which he shared with others. He lived his Christianity in his daily life with all people. He carried the promises of God from his infant baptism to his last breath on earth.
His accomplishments are too many to list, but those of you who knew him also knew of his many great gifts and how he used them to help others. No person lives a full live without unintentional mistakes made, but he was always thankful for forgiveness of sin and endeavored to be a better man each day. Those who knew him all his days knew his true heart. This included many a stray dog and cat that "adopted" him for life.
The family will receive friends at eleven o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 25th of September 2012 in the fellowship hall at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1207 West 45th Street, Austin, Texas 78756. Funeral Services will be held at twelve o'clock in the afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church, under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas. A family dinner gifted by the church will follow the committal service.
In lieu of funeral flowers, and customary remberences, Gary asked for folks to "pay it forward" by doing something for someone in need who has not asked for help. Suggestions include the following non-profit organizations: Hospice Austin, Christopher House or the Animal Trustees of Austin
