Steve Kogut

Steven Bernard Kogut, loving husband, father, son and brother, was born in Austin, Tex., and died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, in Austin, Tex. He was 46 years old. After graduating from the University of Texas, he worked for a wine importing company in Houston, where he met his wife, Beverly Moore. Steven then went to work in the family business as vice president of Reuben's Wines and Spirits, vice president of ABC Hotel Supply and a board member of Austin Tents and Events. He was a lifelong member and served on the board of Congregation Agudas Achim, recently serving as treasurer of the congregation's endowment fund. He served for many years as a board membger (sic) of the Texas Package Stores Association and a member of that group's Legislative Committee. Steve was an exceedingly kind, generous, wise man, with a wonderful sense of humor and a warm heart. He was devoted to his family and deeply concerned about the welfare of his business associates. He loved playing basketball. Steve is survived by his wife, Beverly; son Neil Michael Kogut; daughter, Mindy Rose Kogut; father, Reuben Kogut; mother, Estelle Kogut; brother, Mark Kogut; sister, Karen Kogut; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Abe and Betty Moore; brothers-in-law, Michael and Steve Moore; sisters-in-law, Mimi Kogut, Myra Davis and Denise Moore; aunts and uncles, Thelma and Seth Harwood, Ralph and Shirley Seelig, Manny and Chedva Erez and Adolph Liling; and cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services took place Friday, July 21, 2000, at Congregation Agudas Achim. Rabbi Martin Pasternak officiated. Interment followed at Austin Memorial Park.
