AHS CLASS OF '66
These photos are the last you'll see of the High School before it goes through a Major reconstruction to the original 1964 Design.
This Year marks the 50th Anniversary of the opening of our High School which was dedicated in 1964. But it was actually opened in September of '63 to welcome the class of '64 while still unfinished. The auditorium, athletic fields and gym were not ready until the following year.
Ground breaking for a $53 Million dollar renovation will take place starting this Spring. The only two buildings which will remain untouched will be the Gym & Auditorium. All other wings and sections will be razed and reconfigured. The plan includes a new Cafeteria, Library, Admin. Office and Classrooms with central air conditioning. Unfortunately, the Senior Quad, named for Donald Parker in 2011, will also be eliminated.
Among the photos you'll find some artistic renderings of the New School as it will appear when finished.
