James (Calvin) Sunday was born and raised on South Bouldin Street. While attending Patterson Jim was active in Big Brothers, the Student Council, Patterson Press and the Cafeteria Patrol. He was also a member of the Clipper Choir and because of his height, 6'2", he could always be found (when performing) in the top, back row. I got to know Jim when we were both members of the Key Club, 1960-61.
After graduation, Jim married his high school sweetheart, the lovely Marie Tressler. Marie, or "Rie", was also a member of the Clipper Choir and active in several other service organizations. She had a beautiful voice...and is pictured in a white gown (Clipper yearbook, 1960) while performing a solo.
Jim and Marie would eventually move to Silver Spring, Maryland. They had two children, Karen and Erik.
James Sunday passed away on November 26, 2004. He was 61 years old. May his soul Rest in Peace.
