I remember Julia as a kind, bright girl.  She had a distinctive look, possibly because of those wing-tipped glasses she wore which were quite the style in the early 60's.  I thought Julia was pretty; "she looked like a cat"...I have always thought that the prettiest women look like cats - but this is, I guess, another one of my peculiar notions. (I can feel Julia poking me in my ribs with her elbow) I guess you have to love cats to "get it."

I missed Julia at the re-union in June and was sad to hear that she had died.  Julia was very active in several organizations including the Office Service Club, the Student Council, Big Sisters and the Clipper Yearbook of 1961.  She was also the director of our Senior Play, "Pot Boilers" and played the role of "Mrs. Pencil".  We had mutual interests in art, theatre, journalism and even politics.

While working at Hutzler's, downtown, I often ran into Julia who was also working in one of the Howard or Lexington Street department stores.  We had lunch together at Read's one day during the Christmas Season of 1960 or 1961 - hard to believe it was 50 years ago!

Madeline Antkowiak's prophesy that Julia and I would marry and have 10 children never came to fruition...
