Wm Barry Durgin

William "Barry" Durgin, 65, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at home.

Born Nov. 3, 1946, in Baltimore, he was the son of Charles "Bud" and Olga Isaacs Durgin. He was the husband of Klarrissa Platnic Durgin, with whom he observed a ninth wedding anniversary May 4, 2011. 

He attended Woodlawn High School and graduated from the Maryland Institute of Art in Drafting/Engineering. He was an Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge from the service in 1972 he went to work at Korb Roofers as a vice president from 1972 through 2000. Later, he was employed by the State of Maryland. 

He enjoyed history. He was a member of The Associated Roofing Contractors of MD Inc.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are brothers Larry Durgin and wife Cindy, and David Durgin and wife Lisa; sons William Troy Durgin and wife Cheryl, of Owings Mills, and Mark Barry Durgin and fiance Missy Beck; stepsons, Allen Witten and wife Colleen, Samuel Witten, and Michael Witten; one grandson and five step-grandchildren; and former wife Faith Zei.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Roland "Bud" Brown officiating. Interment will be in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery in Owings Mills.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to one's favorite charity.
