I first met Dixie in Mrs. Knickerbockers English class at Valley Park. I was smitten with her and could not believe that I (the BIG loser that I was) was sitting behind the prettiest girl in school. But Dixie wasn't just pretty, she was also funny and smart and had a great laugh.

I left Valley Park later that year and thought I would never see her again. But 3 short years later, who did I see walking to the school from the Lee High parking lot? Oh my God! I could not believe my eyes!

But, I don't think Dixie ever knew.

In 1984, the world lost a wonderful, beautiful, imaginative young lady. And more than 20 years later, I still remember that beautiful smile. Dixie was a super person and I know that she is missed by many.

I went to school with Dixie since kindergarten and even though we were not close since grade school I still dream about her every once in awhile. So young...such a shame.

Wow! Its really nice to see that people still think and remember my sister. It was such a long time ago and I can say my parents and I still think about my sister and visit her grave.
I just want to thank everyone who have said kind words about Dixie.

My sweet friend, Dixie.

We grew up together from first grade. We were in Blue Birds and Girl Scouts together. We werent very close the older we got, but Dixie and I had this secret understanding - something only two friends could share.

When she died, I was devastated, just as so many others were. Without fail, I have visited her grave every year, twice a year - her birthday and the anniversary of her death. That is, until last year. I moved 2000 miles away, and even though I cant visit her gravesite, I still talk to her on those two specific days of the year.

Dixie is someone I'll NEVER forget.

I didn't know Dixie as well as others may have. But I do remember her vividly. My mom was the Girlscout master and I had to tag along sometimes and Dixie would be there too. She said she had a crush on me (although I think she made almost everyone feel that way) which of course led me to have a crush on her. Sadly, I moved in 83 to Slidell and lost touch with my childhood friends. Anyway, the weird thing is, that on the day she died right around the time it happened. I was miles away and felt a sickening/sad feeling come over me. I couldn't understand what it was. Then, I was crushed to learn about her fate the next day. It was like she was saying bye to everyone she touched in her life. She was the definition of life to the extreme. She is someone I will never forget. It was not fair!
