School Story:
Batch 70
Coming from LaTorre, the high school experience was made even more memorable by the different kinds of transportation we used to get to school, e.g., karetela, bisikleta, tricycle de pedal, and even cadi-lakad.....and then there were motorcycles, thank God, Suzuki, Honda, and Yamaha. We polished our English with Mrs. Bisquerra, wracked our brains in Mrs. Magaway's Geometry class, dissected frogs under Mrs. Torralba, and endured PMT (prep military training) punishments like being ordered to squat for five or more minutes with the weight of a wooden rifle on the outstretched arms with everyone's eyes on you including your crush(es) right there on the quadrangle.. ang lupit! Sometimes the embarrassment is worse than the punishment. There were also occasional "hamonan sa swimming pool" where fistfights usually happen and end up with a bloody nose and a hand shake afterward (Ody Torralba vs. Danilo from Bonfal, Simeon Callores vs. can'trecall anymore). Our beloved principal Mr. Genato, as everyone knows has this muscle tic that causes him to flex his neck in an odd way repeatedly. Not everybody probably know that because of this he was "fondly" called "Bettu Cuyigyig" by troublemakers who gets called into his office for some infraction or another. Kaya siguro nagkaganoon dahil sa kunsumisyon. The Beatles were big back then and I hope someday we can all get together, Sonny, Ody, Allan, Tanying, Cesar, Bobby, Cirilo, Amelia, Amelita, and the rest of Batch 70 do a drunken rendition of "Hey Jude" - the tune during those times... I need to open another ice cold San Miguel beer. - Dios ti ag-ngina, maraming salamat po.
