She was a wonderful, gentle soul. She was also the first person I met that had perfect pitch. I remember it like it was yesterday. We were in Choir, and Mrs. Dunkleberg had Laura sing something. For some reason, Mrs. Dunkleberg hit on Laura's perfect pitch - she asked Laura to hit various pitches, and Laura was dead-on every time. Then she hit a note or two on the piano, and Laura instantly (and correctly) told her what note she had hit. It was nothing she had control over, and once told me it was actually irritating at times, especially when she was listening to something that was even the slightest bit out of tune.
