Nettie fought breast cancer for 5 years before going home to the Lord. She worked at Shanklin and Whale Branch as a teacher's assistant. She gave up her teaching career after she found out about the cancer the first time. Nettie was married name was Sova and she had 2 sons and 2 daughters. One of her daughters works at the Beaufort County Library.
