It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Robert W. "Bob" Contino, Sr., O.S.F., "Fra Tony" age 78,

who passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Mount Carmel East. He was born on Friday, September 18, 1942.

Bob retired from DSCC after 29 years. He was a Third Order Secular Franciscan and was a member of the following: St. John

the Baptist Italian Catholic Church, Piave Club (past president and current executive board member), the Knights of Columbus,

St. Padre Pio, and the Fraternity of St. John. He was a volunteer for the Italian Festival, St. Gabriel 820 AM Radio,

and taught RCIA/Confirmation class as well as CCD at the Church of Our Lady for 20 years.

Bob was "Santa" for family, friends, and at the former Eastland Mall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Antoinette (Mastrogiuseppe) Contino;

son, Robert Contino Jr.; and brother, Anthony Contino Jr. 

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret; son, John A. (Tammy) Contino and

Lt. Col. Joseph P. (Amy) Contino; and grandchildren, Haleigh, Diana, Zachary, Vincent, and Francesca Contino.

Bob's family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, from 3-5 p.m., at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI

FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus, Ohio. A funeral  Mass will be held at 11 a.m.,

Thursday, December 31, 2020, at St. John the Baptist Italian Catholic Church, 720 Hamlet Street Columbus, Ohio

with burial to follow in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Pataskala, Ohio.

Donations in Bob's name preferred to St. John the Baptist Church, 720 Hamlet Street, Columbus (43215) or

St. Gabriel Radio, 4673 Winterset Dr., Columbus, Ohio (43220). Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com.

PLEASE NOTE: due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, visitors are kindly asked to wear masks and attendance will be monitored

 to ensure safety for those attending the visitation; ALSO, masks are required to be worn at the funeral Mass.

It is very sad to hear of yet another Classmate passing.  Bob was such a nice person, always positive in his conversations.  He will be truly missed by all.

I went to our Beaver Falls High School Senior prom with Bob.  He was very nice, and I enjoyed seeing and talking to him at our class reunions over the years.  My condolences to his wife and children.
