Dayton 1966 - Crash Claims Area Woman BEAVERCREEK _ Injuries suffered in a one-car accident in Montgomery County Thursday resulted in the death early today of a Beavercreek Twp. Woman. She was Miss Carlene Wittenauer, 20, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Carl Wittenauer of 6817 Knollwood Drive. Miss Wittenauer died at 3:50 AM today May 6th, 1966 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. According to the Dayton Post of the State Highway Patrol, Miss Wittenauer suffered the fatal injuries in a mishap at Interstate 70 & U.S. Route 25, just south of Vandalia, at 5:15 PM. Thursday. Patrolmen said she was eastbound on Interstate 70, attempted to turn south onto the exit ramp to U.S. 25 when her car went out of control, slid off the ramp, overturning & continuing for about 40 feet before going into a ditch. She was thrown from the auto. The auto was equipped with seat belts, but Miss Wittenauer who was alone in the auto was not wearing her seat belt, the patrolman said. Born June 13, 1945, in Youngstown, Ohio Miss Wittenauer was graduated from Beavercreek High School in 1963 & received an associate degree in accounting from Ohio University in January of this year. Miss Wittenauer was engaged to be married to Lt. Dave Fri who is stationed with the U.S. Army at Fort Benning, GA. In addition to her parents, survivors include a sister Pamela, at home; Mrs. James Haney, & her paternal grandfather, August Wittenauer, both of Youngstown. The Rev. John Schaefer will conduct services Monday at 10:30 AM at Hawker Church. Burial will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N.
