BLACKWELDER, Marjorie Mason age 95 of Beavercreek, died on Sunday, April 15, 2012. She was born July 13, 1916, in Webster City, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Florence (Woolston) Mason. She graduated from the State University of Iowa and the University of Minnesota and worked in the library field. In 1948 she was the head librarian at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi where she met and married Capt. William P. Blackwelder. The Blackwelders settled in Beavercreek in 1960. Marjorie was the librarian at Beavercreek High School ("Mrs. B") for 14 years. After retirement she remained active in the community, especially with the Friends of the Beavercreek Library. She spearheaded the campaign that passed the bond issue for the Beavercreek Community Library. Marjorie was an avid and excellent lifelong bridge player. She and her partner came in second place in their league in 2011. Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, her husband and her brother Bradford. She leaves her daughter Sara Karstetter (Kent), son Paul (Judith), grandchildren (Eric and Katherine Karstetter), two nephews and their families and many good, good friends. Marjorie was caring, intelligent, independent and a delight. She lived in her own house until January of this year. She gave her best for 95 ½ years, and then, after a brief decline, she was gone. A good life. Her family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM, Friday, April 20, 2012 at the TOBIAS FUENRAL HOME - BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall.
