XENIA — Patrick Ruhland, age 70 of Xenia, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 22, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born March 24, 1947 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania the son of Kenneth and Jacquline (Barrett). Patrick was a 1965 graduate of Beavercreek High School, had served in the US Navy for six years; was a Germantown Policeman, worked for the Montgomery County Sheriff Department, worked at SRL, did maintenance for Wallick, worked with Scout Troop 45 in Dayton , was a Harrison Twp. volunteer fireman and was instrumental in the battle with PUCO against Ameritech in the mid-1990s that granted Xenia local telephone service to Dayton. He is survived by his wife, Pamela (McKeever) Ruhland whom he married May 18, 2012, sons John P. Ruhland of Dayton and Robert S. Ruhland of Colorado, step children Dawn (Chris) Smith, Xenia and Marsi Curtis, Fairborn, step grandchildren Alan and Alex Laprairie and Andy Smith. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday August 26, 2017 at 2PM at the McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit Street, Xenia with a Gathering of Family and Friends from 1-2PM.
