XENIA — Clayton Dean Sexton, age 65, of Xenia passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 5, 2014. He was born July 8, 1949 in Xenia, one of seven children born to June (Frazier) and Carsie Clayton Sexton. Dean was affectionately known as "Dink" by his family and close friends. He was a 1968 graduate of Beavercreek High School, and graduated from Dayton Bible College with a BA in Biblical Studies. Dean was a radio personality with stations WBZI, WELX and WMMX. He was retired from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, working maintenance repair and self-employed with Merchant Police Security here in Xenia. He also worked security at the OVCH for 19 years. Dean was currently a loyal and dedicated employee of McColaugh Funeral Home and a member of the Grace Community Church. He enjoyed playing the guitar and music, in general. Most importantly, Dean enjoyed being with his family. He was an ultimate family man who absolutely loved his wife, children and granddaughters. His happy disposition and big smile will be missed by his family, friends and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Virginia "Jenny" Cornetet. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Patricia Thompson Sexton, whom he married June 27, 1969 ; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Andrew Sexton of Dayton, and Aaron and Kelly Sexton of Beavercreek; 2 granddaughters: Savannah and Kennedy Sexton; 5 sisters and brothers: Maynard (Sabrina) Sexton of Springfield; Donald (Lavern) Sexton of Xenia; Sue Martz of Xenia; Phyllis Holcomb of Jacksonville, FL; and Elizabeth Kay Begley of Xenia; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. A celebration of Dean's life will be held 7 PM Thursday, October 9, 2014 at McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc., 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Rev. Ken Day officiating. Friends may call Thursday from 5 pm-7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
