Yasoko Carter* (Boyer) - Class Of 1978

Yasuko Carter-Boyer taught science at Roxboro Middle School in Cleveland Heights for 15 years and fought breast cancer for 13 of them. She published a memoir last year, "How Cancer Saved My Life." She gave inspirational and religious talks around town. Carter-Boyer died Tuesday at her Maple Heights home. She was 49. Born in Beckley, W.Va., she got a bachelor’s degree at Cleveland State and a master’s at Detroit’s Marygrove College, both in education. She taught at Roxboro until Oct. 1. Survivors include her husband, two daughters and two granddaughters. Lucas Memorial Chapel is hosting a funeral at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. From cleveland.com, Nov. 13, 2009. [WWHS Class of 1978]
