Mary Ann Griffith* - Class Of 1974

CELINA, Tenn. — Mary Ann Griffith Evans of Celina, formerly of Beckley, entered a new life February 28, 2010 after a sudden illness. Born November 1, 1956 in Beckley, she was the daughter of Julia Cheek Griffith of Waxhaw, N.C. and the late James Griffith. A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Concord College, Mary Ann was a former teacher for the Raleigh County Board of Education and currently in Clay County, Tenn. While a resident of Beckley she and her family were members of Christian Chapel Church where she was director of music. Mary Ann taught piano, enjoyed singing and being a witness for her Lord and Savior. She attended First Baptist Church in Celina. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her father, James Griffith. She is survived by her husband, Mark Evans; daughter, Alesa-Van Snuffer of Lutz, Fa.; son, Patrick Snuffer of Beckley; daughter, Kaitlyn Snuffer of Celina; brother, James Griffith and wife Cynthia of Beckley; sister, Lesa Mueller and husband Craig of Waxhaw, N.C.; grandson, Michael Simmerman of Lutz, Fla.; mother, Julia Griffith; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Calfee Funeral Home, Beckley from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A celebration of her life will follow with Pastor Chester Cochran and Pastor Doug Walls. Her resting place will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Patrick and Chester Snuffer, James Griffith, Charles T. Griffith, Craig Mueller and Charlie Gillian.
