James Lewis "Lukie" Woodson, 44, of 245 Antonio Ave., Beckley, died at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at a Beckley hospital. Born Oct. 26, 1955, in Oak Hill, he was the son of John Ellis "June" Woodson of New York and Franzetta Pryor Woodson of Beckley. Mr. Woodson was a draftsman, a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and a vocal artist. He played semi-pro football with West Virginia Rockets, was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Center College in Charleston. He was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Brown; a brother, John Ellis Woodson III; his grandfather, John Ellis Woodson Sr.; his grandparents, the Rev. and Mrs. Thomas Pryor; and an uncle, Fred Pryor. Other survivors include a brother, John "Pedie" Woodson of Beckley; a sister, Elaine Lang and her husband, Larry, of Atlanta; his paternal grandmother, Caudie Moore of New York; a special friend, Katrina Cook of Beckley; nephews, Danell Lewis and Marcus Manns; nieces, LaResha Lang, Eleena Lang and Titiana Jackson; five aunts, Virginia Jefferson, Dreama Minor, Doretha Banks, Cynthia Haynes and Odessa Berkley; three uncles, the Rev. David Pryor, Glenn Pryor and Charles Pryor; a host of cousins and relatives; a great uncle; two great aunts; and friends. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Outreach For Christ Christian Center, 416 G St., Beckley, with the Revs. David Pryor and Thomas Steelman, Bishop Fred T. Simms and the Rev. Nelson Staples officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends may call one hour before services Saturday at the church.
