Cheryl Ann Usher (Dennis) (1983)

Marie Louise Hoare was born on April 7 1929, she passed away on February 26, 2007. She was the Vice Principal of the newly inaugurated BJSS #1 in 1969. A year later she became the Principal and remained there until her retirement in 1984. On May 16, 2000 the Administrative Building was named "Marie L. Hoare" in her Honor. Marie completed High School at St. Hilda's College at the age of 13. She taught at Holy Redeemer, Sand Hill RC school and St. Joseph. She attended Belize Teacher's College, and later left Belize to study at Leicester, England where she obtained her Bachelors degree in Literature. In addition to Teaching, Marie served as a Belize City Councilor, an organizer of the Miss Belize and Miss Independence Pageants for 30 years, a member of the Board of the Belize Orphanage, a facilitator for the Peace Corps and a Justice of the Peace. When asked she would say her greatest Joy was teaching.

It sadden me to read about the death of our favourite principal.......I grieve with the family upon her death, I will miss her dearly.....R.I.P
