Donald Henry Owings

Survived By: Wife Sharon, two children, two grandchildren, brother Mark, and three sisters.

Donald earned his BA at the University of Texas and his Ph.D in psychology from the University of Washington. He was on the faculty of the University of California at Davis from 1971 till his death. He had an outstanding reputation for his ground-breaking research in animal behavior, particularly predator-prey interactions and how natural selection shapes the evolution of behavior. In 2010 he was awarded the Animal Behavior Exemplar Award for his long-term contributions to the field. He also was known as an outstanding and caring mentor to his many students.
