When I read that Steve had died and that he had played in the Baltimore Oriole farm system, I used the all-powerful Google to find out more about him. Someone who obsesses over baseball has posted a nice photo of Steve in uniform at spring training in 1966. More baseball minutia includes his record as a pitcher with the Elmira (NY) Pioneers where he posted a splendid 12 and 8 record with a 3.45 ERA. I cannot confirm, however, that he actually was promoted to The Show (see Bull Durham the movie) but the obituary suggests that he had some time in the majors.

What a great guy. Also, as a sports fan at BHS, I loved to watch him play baseball...quite a talent! I'm certain his sons miss him alot. Randy Firsching Mullins

From a former baseball team mate, I remember Steve well. I played center field and remembered when Steve pitched and walked several, no one got excited because he would strike out the next two!
