John English, born on 5/18/1951 in New York City, considered himself a native Texan moving to Bellaire, Texas at age 8. He attended Condit Elementary, Jane Long Jr. High, and Bellaire High School, Class of 69, where he played football and loved to surf. He was a graduate of Florida International University.
John was a dedicated employee of SpawGlass for 41 years. He was proud to be one of the ten original stockholders of the Texas based general contractor.
He attended Community of Faith Church in Hockley, Texas and First Lakeview of Volente, Texas. He also attended a weekly men's Bible study.
John was blessed with many friends and made friends wherever he went. He will be remembered for his big heart and big laugh. He recently retired in December, Lolli and Pop loved spending time with their adoring family and doing fun outings with their precious grandsons. He loved to travel and loved the water, especially the beach. It is fitting he died while in the beautiful clear water of Cozumel, Mexico while traveling with the love of his life, wife, Sherry, along with some longtime friends.
John was a leader, encourager, and provider. He worked hard to give his family the world.
Jesus, his Savior, has come to take him to the glory of God. John leaves behind, wife of 33 years, Sherry Hitchcock English, daughter Kristen Anne Bundy (Christopher), son Jonathan Brent, grandsons Joseph Lee and Oliver English Bundy, brothers Steve English and Ted Monaghan, sister Sue Henry (Bill), many nieces and nephews, friends and associates who will miss him. He is preceded in death by father Stephen Mahoney English and mother Susanna Kosco English.
He will remain in our hearts forever.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 20, 10:30 am at Memorial Drive UMC, 12955 Memorial Drive, Houston 77079, gravesite service to follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
