Robert Freedman, 65, died peacefully at home, surrounded in love, on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, following a long illness. He was born in Houston on April 15, 1952, to Lenore and Harold Freedman.

A lawyer, who gracefully advised families with elder loved ones, Robert was known by all who loved him for his smile and humor, his amazing singing voice and, most of all, the “Robert Bear Hug.”

Robert was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Cathérine Denys. He also is survived by his sister, Cantor Cindy Freedman, and his brother and sister-in-law Gary and Debra Freedman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lenore and Harold Freedman. He also is survived by his stepmother, Sarah Freedman, and stepsiblings Paul Rosenberg, Wendy Kent and Jason Chambers. 

A memorial service celebrating the life of Robert Freedman will take place on Sunday, Aug. 6, at 3 p.m. at Congregation Beth Yeshurun.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to encourage donations in Robert’s memory to the General Fund of Congregation HaMakom, P.O. Box 6777, Santa Fe, N.M. 87502, hamakomtheplace.org.
