Carolyn Burns Nehls '67

I worked for the Belle Glade Police Department for 26 years in various jobs, Communications, Records Clerk, Purchasing Agent. Now I am Managing the Bookstore at the Glades Campus of Palm Beach Community College. Raised Brenda as a single Mom with some wonderful help from her Granny Nehls. She is a second grade teacher at Sunrise Elementary School in Marion County. She is a National Star Educator and the Grade Chair in her school. I guess you can't tell, I'm pretty proud of her.

I have a lot of great memories of my school days and some that were not all that great. My favorite story is from my Senior Year and the Band Banquet. Mr. Stevens called all of our parents and asked them for something from our childhood that he could use in a sort of Roast at the Banquet. I thought I would never get over the embarrassment of him handing me a CornCob Pipe. I had to have one when I was a toddler because my Granddaddy had one and I was his shadow.
